100 level Pre and Post Natal Teacher Training

Shakti Yoga Teaching Academy and Therapy Centre offers a unique, fully comprehensive, internationally accredited 100 hour prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher training with lead facilitators Rulene Moolman and Taryn Elise Herselman (Ma Akash).
The course includes a perfect blend of asanas, alignment, anatomy, physiology, pranayama, mudras, yoga nidra, meditation and yoga philosophy that will give you with confidence and enthusiasm to work with future mothers or those trying to conceive.
Duration: 10 Weeks: Starting on Thursday the 6th March until 15 May 2025
Times: Mondays (online only) and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and 5 Saturdays in April / May. (The full course can be completed online via Zoom, in studio or a combination of both.)
Investment: SA Residents: R9250.00 (includes a comprehensive manual, Google Drive access to additional learning and teaching resources, lectures, etc). The balance can be paid in monthly instalments (R1920 x 3). A non-refundable deposit of R3500.00 secures your placement on the course.

All lessons must be attended, please ensure you have the time required in order to complete the training. It will be expected of you to do self-study and to develop your own lesson plans and complete the two assignments. Estimated time required: Minimum 10 hours per week.
This is necessary for you in order to be able to teach Pre and Post natal yoga from a point of personal experience and not merely from poses learnt in a book. In order to gain practical experience it will be expected of you to attend a minimum of 5 pre natal classes, signed off by teachers outside of the course. Prenatal Yoga Teacher recommendations and contact details will be given.
COURSE CONTENT (100 level):
Pre conception Diet, lifestyle and spiritual practices
Pregnancy
- Trimester 1, 2 and 3: Anatomical and physiological changes / Complications and issues / Yoga Asanas, Pranayama and Relaxation
- Labour and Birth
Postnatal 4th Trimester 0-3 months
Additional Modules:
- Chanting / Mantras for pregnancy
- Mudras for pregnancy
- Pranayama for pregnancy
- Meditation and guided visualisation to prepare for labour and birth
- Relaxation and Yoga Nidra during pregnancy
- Cleansing techniques from the Hatha yoga texts
Course Assessment:
- Self -study (10 hours a week)
- 2 written assignments
- Teaching a 60-75 minute Pre natal classes with a detailed lesson plan (assessed by one of the lecturers)
Post course criteria
- You will need to submit an additional 5 lesson plans, which you will be given feedback on and complete 5 teaching pracs (60- 75 minutes). These will be assessed by one of your pregnant students. The assessment form must be signed and returned to one of your lecturers for review.

Pre-requisites for the Pre and Post Natal Teacher Training Applicants
• Students applying for this TTC must provide a 200 or 300 hour / level certificate OR
• Applicants should have practiced yoga consistently for at least 2 years prior to the course
• Healthcare professionals (midwives, doulas, etc) are also welcome to attend

Certification
100 level certified course accredited with Yoga Alliance International
Theoretical and practical examination will take place throughout the course. Class assignments will also be given.
A minimum of 90% class attendance is required. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate from Shakti Yoga Centre if all the criteria have been met. After this you can apply with YAI for membership at a discounted rate of 200 Euros.
This course meets all the criteria for the international yoga standards and is fully accredited with Yoga Alliance International.
This YAI Accreditation is not a certification program, rather it is a listing of yoga schools and yoga teachers whose training and experience meets certain minimum international standards as described below. The accreditation listing differentiates three levels of training: a 200-hour level, 300 – hour and 500-hour level.
Minimum Yoga Teacher Standards
The Shakti Yoga Centre TTC standards are in accordance with Yoga Alliance International and the International Yoga Federation (IYF), and similar international yoga bodies.
The 100hrs consists of 60 contact hours and 40 hours of self-study.
There will be both written assignments and two 60- 75 minute teaching practicals (second and third trimester) to complete. Additional assessments and course hours includes submitting 5 class lesson plans and attending a minimum of 10 pre or post natal classes (signed off by external teachers).

International Accreditation
On completion of the course you will receive a 100 level certificate from Shakti Yoga Therapy Centre (accredited with Yoga Alliance International). Both the course and Shakti Yoga Teaching Academy and Therapy Centre are accredited with Yoga Alliance International (YAI – http://yogaalliance.in/), the ONLY organisation where the yoga teacher certifications are recognised by the government of India. Upon completion of the course, if you wish to do so you will be able to register with YAI for the 100-level certification as an individual teacher, becoming part of their global network of teachers.
